A adults-only party is probably something of a rarity, but it shows that grown-ups can still have lots of fun without the kids (and often want a break from them, too, of course!) The words ‘birthday party’ tend to conjure up images of children in party hats, with balloons and cute decorations everywhere and a cake with candles to be blown out. Nevertheless, for Dina’s 30th birthday party, she wanted to celebrate with her close-knit group of friends by hosting a hog roast Harlton extravaganza at her home, and how could we say no to that?
We offer a winter warmer menu at this time of year, and Dina thought it would be a great idea with the party being mostly in the back garden. The evenings are getting a bit chillier now, so instead of formal wear for this special occasion, Dina told her guests that they might want to dress up in warm jumpers, scarves and boots! There would be two chimineas in the garden and our hot hog and vegetable delights were sure to warm them up anyway.
With the winter warmer, you choose the vegetables to go alongside the meat pieces and crackling, and Dina asked us to provide a large tray of roasted new potatoes, mixed peppers and red onions. Served on high quality disposables, this meal is a great autumn or winter alternative to our delicious pigs in buns, though our customers are still more than welcome to order that or any of the other different kinds of food that we offer anyway.
On the evening of Dina’s party, I catered the event by myself as it was an intimate gathering of 12 friends. I’m happy to say that the hog roast Harlton and the veg all cooked to perfection, and the proof was in the pudding (or should I say the main!) as nothing was wasted. The friends drank copious amounts of wine and cocktails and warmed themselves by the fire, enjoying multiple servings of our lovely food. The night was topped off with a gorgeous-looking birthday cake which featured photos of Dina and her friends, but they were all way too full to eat it.
