It is our favourite time of year here at Hog Roast Ely. The leaves are starting to litter the ground in all their brilliant autumnal colours and although the weather is starting to get colder it is just another excuse to cosy up and enjoy one of our slow roasted hogs. Not to mention October marks the return of one of our favourite events… the Ely annual fair.
The fair is one of the largest events to visit Ely and Hog Roast Ely were thrilled to be able to secure a stall yet again. We really do love this event as we get to show off our Hog Roast Ely to members of the public who, after a fun filled evening exploring the fairs rides and games, wander around looking for some good wholesome food, and that’s just where we come in.
This year we had prepared a large hog that we had slowly roasting away throughout the evening ready to serve to customers. We made sure to make a healthy dose of crunchy crackling as it goes down so well that we get people coming back asking to take a portion home for supper! We also made some rotisserie chickens that can spin slowly around on one of our machines and always draw people in just by the mouth-watering smell of them gently roasting away. Of course, we had plenty of accompaniments on hand too including our homemade applesauce and stuffing and of course plenty of gravy to give the Hog Roast Ely that extra delicious kick.
Over the course of the evening we must have served hundreds of people and everyone had the biggest of grins on their faces when we handed over their own Hog Roast Ely meal. It really was another successful year at the fair and we are sure we will be receiving lots of enquiries in the coming days once people realise that they can’t go long without another Hog Roast Ely!
