Hog Roast Ely’s Slow Cooked Hog Taking Centre Stage

When Ashley asked Hog Roast Ely to cater his wife’s milestone birthday party a while back, he was hoping we could provide options for carnivores, vegetarians and a gluten-free guest too. We’ve spent many years making sure that everyone invited gets to enjoy our lovely food, which is why we have various dishes that are suitable for guests on diets and that includes vegetarian and gluten-free. Ashley wanted a centrepiece hog roast so that we could make most of the guests pigs in buns (his wife Molly’s favourite food) so we told him that the gluten-free guest could eat them too, just with extra bread rolls that we would bring along that were suitable. In terms of vegetarian dishes, we have a few that our professional chefs make, and Ashley chose our veggie kebabs, which have halloumi and vegetable chunks that we grill and then serve in pitta alongside our Tzatziki dip.

On the day of Molly’s 60th birthday, Hog Roast Ely arrived at the village hall venue several hours before we would be serving, as we need plenty of time to prepare and then slowly cook a hog to perfection. Some time later, the meat was sizzling in its own juices and we were grilling the skewers and arranging the pigs in buns ingredients ready for service. Once Molly, Ashley and their 40 guests arrived, it was time to carve away and soon enough, they could dig in.
