Did you know that Halloween was originally celebrated by the Celts and was known as the festival of Samhain? The festival involved bonfires and people wearing costumes to ward off ghosts that they believed returned to earth as the worlds of the living and dead became blurred. Additionally, the 31st of October marked the start of the colder weather, darkness and end of harvest. It was therefore associated with death as people struggled in these colder months with staying warm and finding food.
