Nothing says British summertime like a day that starts off dry and sunny and becomes unexpectedly stormy, despite no sign of rain in the forecast. This July, Martin organised a birthday party for his wife, which was planned to take place in the garden of their home. The couple have a beautiful backyard with plenty of open space, surrounded by incredible flowers and plants. Martin had asked 30 guests to attend the party and contacted Hog Roast Cambridge to see if we could serve a buffet menu for the occasion. Our catering manager began suggesting some menus that would be ideal for the occasion, and Martin decided on our classic hog roast. We were all set to get to work and the forecast looked great, so what could possibly go wrong?

On the day of the party, the sky looked grey from the start, with rain beginning as the Hog Roast Cambridge team started to set up our catering station. Luckily we were under our gazebo and were able to get to work on slow-roasting the hog to perfection. Unfortunately, it meant that Martin had to move his party inside, but the event was still a success overall, with the guests eager to enjoy our delicious meal. We served the succulent pork in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage an onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. Additionally, we provided homemade chips, gourmet coleslaw, and a green leaf salad, which created a varied and delicious menu. Despite the weather, our catering helped to turn the mood around and the party was still a great afternoon!
